Partnering with UB Renewable Energy Special Investment Fund

This information is intended to help you consider whether collaborating with UB Renewable Energy Special Investment Fund aligns with your goals.

Who we are and why we do this

The UB Renewable Energy Fund (AIF) was established in the autumn 2023. Its focus is on long-term investments in renewable energy projects and assets.

The fund invests in energy assets in production, storage, and transmission. All assets the fund invests in must utilize technologically and economically tested technology.

Our operations are steered by an experienced portfolio management team with extensive expertise in project development, financing, and the energy sector.

Strategic collaboration

We value strong relationships with our selected advisors and service providers and expect them to demonstrate the same level of proven expertise—both technical and financial—that we require from our investment targets.

Our investment focus

We invest in

  • Technologically and economically proven technologies in production, storage, and transmission.
  • Projects that have secured land, grid connection, and applicable permits.
  • We prefer Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) but are willing to consider merchant risk in selected investments.
  • Our preferred investment sizes range from 20 to 80 million euros (excluding debt), aiming for 100% ownership.
  • Collaboration and joint ventures are possible for larger ticket items.

We do not invest in

  • Development companies
  • Technology developers
  • New innovation in the RES space
  • Unproven (trl8 or below) technology development projects or development platforms.

Our fundamental investment principles

  • SFDR 9 compliance
  • Taxonomy alignment
  • ESG fundamentals in place
  • Reputable advisors will conduct comprehensive due diligence reviews (LDD, FDD, TDD, TeDD, ESG, commercial) during the investment process.
  • Reliable CAPEX estimates need to be based on written offers.

Our operations and goals

As an evergreen fund, we strive to create a technologically and geographically diverse portfolio, including greenfield development projects in Finland brought to operations at the turn of the decade, ensuring steady revenue streams from production, storage, and transmission for our investors, partners, and stakeholders.
